• Ensure that sunlight is let in through your house during the day, so before you go to work, open all the curtains to capture the warmth.
• Close those curtains when the sun goes down to keep the heat inside.
• Make sure all windows are covered, and where possible, have insulated curtains to retain the heat.
• If you have ceiling fans check if they have a warm setting that you can turn on to circulate the warm air.
• Move any furniture away from vents to prevent sitting in cold air flow areas.
• If you have polished floorboards, put as many rugs as possible in every room to retain the heat.
• Keep doors closed to keep the heat in the room and use door “snakes” to prevent the heat from escaping.
• Wear warm clothes and drink hot teas or soups, which will keep your heating bill low!
